I'm imagining Lucanis keeps alternating between losing himself to spite (like with Illario) and then slowly shutting down mentally (as with Caterina), compartmentalising the pain and trying to get used to the idea that Rook's not coming back while Spite is banging on the walls inside, raging, biting, breaking ribs in a never-ending litany.

His codex entries are just matter of fact lists of events and how he plans out his day, the writing suddenly becoming illegible and haphazard when he falls to exhaustion, Spite taking over and raging all over his notes.

Missed opportunity to not have codexes in everyone's rooms cataloging the apparent weeks rook was in the fade prison.
